We recently got a new puppy, a English Bulldog we named her Daisy; potty training Daisy has been more difficult than any other dog we have ever had (we occasionally foster dogs from local rescues so were no stranger to training dogs).
In any event we decided to get a dog door put in and see if we could train her to use this directly, we just got it installed; its a PlexiDoor(tm) dog door (the Cadillac of in-wall dog doors).
I have been so busy with work lately I have been unable to install the door myself so we ended up using a local handy-man service, Case Handyman.
It was really expensive to get them to do the work (4 hour minimum, coming just a little short of $400) but it’s in and they did a good job.
There were a few hiccups we ran into when trying to figure out where we would put the door but in the end we found a reasonable place and so far it looks promising.
Daisy has gotten to the point where she goes to the door and barks to go out, this is MUCH better than were we were before; now to get her to feel comfortable going out without help.
In any event, I think we’re pretty satisfied with the end result.
