There is a great article on PC Magazines site about the lawsuit against Kaleidescape in a nutshell the outcome of this trial will decide if users get to experience the content they purchase in ways they want to or if the content producers get to.

OK, so as I read about this it had nothing to do with fair use; it was about a violation of the CSS license (contract).Once I heard that I thought there was no chance this would end in the favor of Kaleidescape; without reading the license I couldnt beleive this core item wouldnt have appropriate coverage, after all thats one of the principals of the technology involved here.But turns out either it was not covered well or the Judge just wanted to buy a Kaleidescape himself ;)http://www.eetimes.com/news/latest/showArticle.jhtml?articleID=198701186&pgno=1
