The NW is underwater.

When I travel and I tell folks I am from the Seattle area they always ask me if it "really rains all that much there" before I lived outside the state my answer was an astounding No, sometimes I would even joke that we tell people that to keep them out so we could keep the area to ourselves but after living around the country I found that no, it does really rain a fair amount here.

But what is a fair amount? I don't really know the answer to that question but what I can say is that today we have more than our fair amount; our governor has declared a state of emergency due to record rainfalls in the last 24 hours.

Though there are lots of interesting pictures available online, I will point out two that are very close to me; the first being this one in Totem Lake which is just a few miles from my house and then there is this one literally a few blocks from my house in Woodinville.

Outside all you hear is fire engines and helicopters, oh my.
